This is who we are looking for:

The Controls Engineering group at Haartz is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Controls Technician to join our growing team! New ideas, new technologies and new ways of thinking are driving our future!

This is what you will be doing:

As a Controls Technician you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing basic electronic equipment. Assist Controls Engineers with technical tasks such as calibrating load cells, replacing thermocouples, testing instruments, etc. Assist with, and/or willing to be trained to assist with, Allen Bradley PLC logic programming and Aveva (Wonderware) HMI software.  Perform preventative maintenance on electronic equipment.

Hours:  7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Some Job Responsibilities

  • Help troubleshoot and identify a root cause, repair, or replace parts, including rewire, and install related instrument/electrical goods.
  • Preventative and proactive electrical maintenance.
  • Assist with emergency and scheduled shutdowns while performing regular electrical/controls duties as directed.
  • Calibrate, configure, and repair of measurement/control instruments for flow, level, pressure, temperature.
  • Understand electrical and instrumentation equipment associated with plant processing equipment.
  • Understanding of motor control circuits and electric motors.
  • Research and order any instrument/electrical parts needed and assist with maintaining the required instrument/electronic/electrical parts inventories.
  • Document and record: utilizing inventory control systems, maintaining calibration records, ordering parts, work with outside contractors, etc.
  • Understand how equipment and instrument/electronic controls operate and are utilized to operate the plant.
  • Some familiarity with PLC/DCS I/O including 4-20mA loops, 120V/24DC I/O.
  • Some level of PLC programming and troubleshooting is a plus.

This is what you should bring:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and some schooling and/or training in electronics\controls or equivalent experience.  Good communication and computer skills (MS Office).
