Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney Controls & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military and commercial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems.

CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development and support, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, product software design, verification & validation and engine and flight test support.  

The CDS organization is seeking a highly motivated, team oriented, and results driven Principal Engineer to join the Control System Software organization.  

The position is based at the P&W West Palm Beach facility and is an Hybrid role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Decompose system level and customer interface requirements into software requirements and designs within an Agile Framework 
• Writing requirements, capturing software architectures, developing designs
• Conduct iterative prototype testing and reviews of requirements and designs 

• Perform software verification including regression analysis, test case development, test script development and evaluation of results

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
• 5+ years of engineering experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field with 3+ years’ experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Solid track record of achieving results in a technical role   
• Ability to work in a dynamic, high-pressure engineering environment  
• Prior experience developing software  
• Prior safety critical software development experience  
• Knowledge of regulatory standards such as DO178B   
• Outstanding cross discipline communication skills  
• Familiarity with jet engine control and diagnostic system architectures and control logic design  
• Experience in the Aerospace industry is preferred
• Background in controls, real-time systems software and safety critical work is preferred.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. This means that responsibilities of the job need to be performed onsite on a regular basis.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
