JOB TITLE: Junior Software Engineer

REPORTS TO: Software Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: None

JOB PURPOSE: The Junior Software Engineer is an exempt position responsible for developing new software, as well as maintaining or improving current software products, procedures, and techniques; and providing innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions to meet technical objectives and timing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Write high quality, maintainable software

· Participate in peer reviews, estimation, and other engineering activities within a collaborative department

· Implement algorithms to solve complex problems

· Development of web based C#, .Net, UX/UI (e.g., Blazor/HTML5)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERENCE

Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or equivalent, zero to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to read and produce engineering documentation including requirements documents, design documents, test documents, and basic reports; and be able to proofread and edit engineering and user manuals. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and peers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY

Must have at least a university-level of understanding of arithmetic. Must be able to solve complex logical problems, and understand the processes and solutions used well enough to be able to communicate those to other engineering staff members. Must be able to integrate customer requirements in various formats to internal requirements and formats.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience with and competency in:

· Exposure to, or experience with one or more of the follow languages, C#, JavaScript

· Exposure to, experience with web frameworks such as .Net or similar.

· Familiarity with containers design and deployment (Docker, docker-compose, Kubernetes)

· Object-oriented design and development

· Linux and Windows operating systems

· Knowledge of network protocols

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Visual acuity must be high enough to view computer screens from distance of 36 inches and to read customer documentation.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
