Job Description
We are in search of an accomplished and strategic-minded Controller to lead our financial department. This role is pivotal in guiding financial strategy, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and driving the financial success of our organization. Responsibilities:
- Strategic Financial Management: Develop and implement strategic financial plans and policies to guide the company's financial direction. Provide insightful financial analysis to support the executive team's strategic decisions.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversee the preparation and analysis of comprehensive financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure all financial reporting is compliant with GAAP, COPAS guidelines, and other regulatory requirements.
- Joint Interest Billing Oversight: Supervise the Joint Interest Billing processes, ensuring accurate and equitable cost and revenue allocations. Lead initiatives to optimize JIB procedures for efficiency and accuracy.
- Operator Relations and Financial Leadership: Act as the senior financial liaison with operators, ensuring clear communication and robust financial partnerships. Lead negotiations and discussions related to financial agreements and collaborations.
- General Ledger and Financial Controls: Manage the overall integrity of the general ledger. Implement robust financial controls and procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability in financial reporting.
- Budgeting and Financial Forecasting: Direct the budgeting and forecasting processes. Provide variance analysis and insights to guide effective financial management and resource allocation.
- Audit Management and Regulatory Compliance: Lead internal and external audit processes, ensuring full compliance with financial regulations and standards. Develop strategies to maintain compliance in a changing regulatory landscape.
- Tax Strategy and Compliance: Oversee tax planning and compliance activities. Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure effective tax strategies and timely submissions.
- Process Optimization and Technology Integration: Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
- Team Development and Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team. Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.
Requirements:
- Educational and Professional Credentials: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification highly preferred.
- Experience in Financial Leadership: Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or in a similar leadership role within finance, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Expertise in COPAS and JIB: In-depth understanding of COPAS guidelines and extensive experience with Joint Interest Billing processes in a leadership capacity.
- Advanced Industry Knowledge: Strong grasp of the financial and regulatory nuances specific to the Oil and Gas industry.
- Technological Proficiency: Expertise in advanced accounting software, ERP systems, and financial modelling tools. Familiarity with industry-specific software is a significant advantage.
- Analytical and Strategic Thinking: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and provide leadership in financial decision-making.
- Communication and Leadership: Outstanding communication skills with a proven ability to lead and inspire a team. Ability to articulate complex financial information to a variety of stakeholders.
