As a Controller for PK Safety (PKS) and PK Technology (PKT), you will serve as a key business partner with the PKS and PKT operations teams and the finance team by overseeing the financial operations of both companies. You will enhance the organizations’ awareness and understanding of operating performance information and financial scenario planning as well as the impact of management’s decisions on these financial results.

Competitive wage range of $100,000 - $110,000 per year depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities of the Controller:

  • Participate in and oversee the month-end close activities for PKS & PKT which may involve preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and transaction review to ensure the accuracy of the financials.
  • Review financial statements, reports, and forecasts to monitor company performance against goals.
  • Ensure timely submission, accuracy, and validity of P&L by Job to operations management and CFO.
  • Partner with PKS/PKT management teams in achieving goals, executing strategy and meeting business needs thru the application of services provided by the accounting team.
  • Assist in the development and preparation of annual operating budgets, quarterly projections, long-range, and capital plans.
  • Understand key business unit operating metrics/drivers and measure performance to established metrics.
  • Conduct research and perform analytical studies related to cost analysis and profitability. Create financial models for decision support.
  • Monitor revenue and expenditures to ensure that they are in line with company goals.
  • Prepare reports detailing company finances for use in decision making processes by executive and operations management.
  • Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and potential problems with the business model.
  • Support and assist the CFO’s reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others.
  • Working with the CFO and finance team, drives continuous improvement in accounting processes, systems and organization.
  • Review and approve AP invoices and payment requests to ensure they are within company guidelines as well as properly coded.
  • Review and approve Concur expense activity.
  • Review AR invoicing to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Work with finance team to assist in the collection of overdue AR balances. Oversight and management of customer portals.
  • Work closely with the project managers and operations team to create internal rate sheets for use in operation estimates and quoting.
  • Perform special projects and financial reporting as required.
  • Oversee and manage company specific audits and surveys as requested by outside entities such as PKS/PKT customers, State or Federal government agencies.

Minimum education and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or another related field
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 2 to 5 years of experience.

Qualifications and Skills for the PKT PKS Controller:

  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
  • Working knowledge and experience with accounting and ERP systems.
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data.
  • Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
