For consideration, candidates must possess a minimum of five years' experience in a not-for-profit/grant accounting role. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. Major responsibilities
- Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
- Grant Accounting and compliance in addition to reviewing deliverables of the team
- Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
- Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
- Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
- Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant is preferred
- Grant accounting experience is required
- Month end closings experience
- Audit Compliance experience highly valued
- Adeptness in cash management
- Comprehension of Government compliance
- Practical knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)
- Strong familiarity with general ledger
- Experience with Blackbaud
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel
- Accounts Receivable (AR) experience highly preferred
- Good understanding of non-profit fund accounting
- Background working with bank reconciliations
- Previous experience working with financial auditing
- General familiarity with Annual Budget
- Demonstrated knowledge of Month-end Journal Entries
- Earlier work involving payroll for under 100 employees
- Expertise in financial statement preparation
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
- Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business-related field
