OVERVIEW:
We are recruiting for an experienced Controller to join our Accounting team. The Controller must have strong analytical, strategic-planning, operational and communication skills, including an ability to work well with senior executives. A combination of manufacturing industry and public accounting experience is highly valued.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that consolidated financial statements are prepared timely, accurately and in compliance with GAAP standards. This includes monthly financial reporting packages and preparation of annual audited statements with footnotes
- Serve as the business unit subject matter expert for general accounting processes, complex accounting solutions, and provide training and guidance to junior staff where needed
- Direct the preparation of business unit financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, KPI’s and reports
- Collaborate with department heads to drive budgeting initiatives and financial acumen.
- Lead and manage all aspects of operational accounting functions
- Coordinate interactions with external auditors to ensure timely completion of audits.
- Prepare cash flow projections and manage cash flow continuously
- Contribute to efforts to develop and implement internal controls and compliance across the organization.
- Oversee the accounting department functions around processing and recording of daily transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, sales tax, inventory, and the month end close
- Direct the preparation of year-end filings, audit, and tax returns
- Assist with on going financial model and forecast updates
- Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
- Manage special projects and provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
- CPA or CMA is required
- Public accounting experience is preferred
- Must have Manufacturing or Construction experience
- Must have experience with audit disclosures and footnotes
- 10+ years of relevant accounting work experience required
- Experience in managing professional staff is required
- Mix of public and private experience is preferred
- International experience preferred
- Multi entity consolidation experience preferred
- Strong foundation in general accounting, monthly close, financial reporting, and GAAP concepts
- Proficient use and experience in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Proficient advanced Excel skills (Vlookup’s, pivot tables, etc) to manage large volumes of data
- NetSuite experience a plus
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing startup environment
- Superior analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to pay strict attention to detail, with a commitment to deliver quality and accurate work products on a timely basis
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
