The Role:
General Motors' Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) group unlocks a new level of potential by further integrating our vehicles with their digital world. SDV has created Ultifi, a new vehicle intelligence platform, designed to unlock new vehicle experiences. With Ultifi, we will connect with customers through software-defined features, apps and services via Over-the-Air (OTA). The new platform works by separating key software from the hardware to simplify the OTA process, enabling us to provide more robust updates and cloud-services to our customers.
The SDV organization works on ADAS software, Infotainment Services, AI-based Apps, Energy (EV) & Connected Mobility Services, Software Architecture, Systems Engineering, Software Integration, Product and Program Management- all to provide cool features such as Super Cruise and Ultra Cruise to our customers. What You'll Do:
The Control Systems Engineer will work on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Core Feature Software on our Lane Localization team. The role will be responsible for developing new software for performance behavior features and is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in Active Safety for the next generation of autonomous vehicles.
- Lead the design and development of Lane Localization Feature Software
- Lead the generation of technical solutions, including the specification of requirements and the functional decomposition, analysis, development, implementation, and verification of new or enhanced functionality within the Active Safety Autonomous Driving Features software domain
- Develop embedded software controls algorithms to GM production standards using hand code or auto-generated code from Matlab-Simulink, integrate resulting software into overall Active Safety software product line
- Demonstrate continuous improvement of subsystem features and functions through the identification and resolution of issues as raised by product teams
- Support problem resolution activities (durability, warranty, etc.)
- Develop optimization strategies and provide design direction and resolve design issues
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Qualifications):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree
- 2+ years of automotive engineering experience working with embedded Control Systems
- Experience in software algorithm design (ANSI C, Matlab/Simulink), performance tuning, debugging, documentation, and testing
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master's degree in a technical field with Control Systems emphasis
- 5 years of automotive engineering experience working with embedded Control Systems
- Experience using protocols and interfaces like CAN, Ethernet, Flexray, and other network topologies and interfaces
- Proficiency with software rapid prototyping tools such as Matlab/Simulink autocode generation
This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.
