Job Title: Control & Instrument Engineer
Reports To: North America Engineering Manager
Department: Group Engineering
Employees Supervised: 0
Primary Duties: Architectural Engineering provides a total project engineering service for capital projects on behalf of NSG Group and client companies worldwide. This service covers all aspects of the project from feasibility, specification, design and procurement to installation and commissioning. Projects vary between the build of a new factory on a Greenfield site to a major overhaul of an existing plant. A vacancy has arisen for an Instrument & Control Engineer (or Senior dependent on experience) within Architectural Engineering. Travel within the US and globally is an integral part of the role and will consists of short design trips as well as trips of around 6 weeks at a time supervising the installation and commissioning phases.
Key Responsibilities:
HSE & Standards
  • Provide leadership and contribute to company environmental, health and safety standards in compliance with company policies to ensure a safe working environment and the minimization of environmental impact
  • Ensuring standards, specifications and guidelines pertaining to discipline conform to the requirements of relevant industry legislation, standards, and guidance

Engineering
  • Liaise with and manage interfaces with other engineering disciplines to develop full system designs
  • Prepare and manage the preparation of design deliverables including, Design Specifications, Instrument Data Sheets & Test Specifications
  • Prepare and manage the technical specification for installation of control systems including the creation of cable block diagrams, cable schedules, wiring schedules & loop drawings

Procurement
  • Responsible for the technical aspect of the procurement of equipment and tendering of installation contracts
  • Manages project spend in accordance with approved budgets

Construction
  • Management of onsite installation in assuring meeting of safety, quality and schedule objectives of project
  • DCS and instrumentation on site commissioning
  • Production and completion of all commissioning documentation

Management
  • Planning of contract design activities to achieve project deadlines
  • Use Continuous Improvement methodologies to promote built in engineering quality concepts into standard work
  • Prepare & execute project documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices Support
  • Provide technical support for C&I related equipment post installation for manufacturing sites

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • DCS Design • Instrument Specification• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) • Detailed Design
  • Hazardous Areas • On Site Commissioning• Factory Acceptance Testing • P&ID's ADVANTAGEOUS

Qualifications Desired:
  • Eurotherm DCS • GE iFix SCADA Software
  • Control Panel Design • Camera & Vision Systems
  • Schneider/ Allen Bradley PLC Programming • Troubleshooting of PLC & SCADA Software
  • Feasibility Studies • Budget Preparation• Project Control or Management Experience •

SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or associated experience
  • Effective prioritization of projects and tasks to ensure delivery on time and within budget
  • Pro-active and able to work on own initiative, ready to identify problems and quickly report them/ provide solutions
  • An ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales
  • Exceptional interpersonal and team-working skills with a natural enthusiasm and an ability to work hard
  • Self - starter who drives for results
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong technical knowledge base to discuss client needs and make recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to multi-task
  • Computer proficiency, including strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Possess a valid driver's license
