Job Description – Contracts Manager
We are looking for a Contracts Manager to join our International Petrochemical Client based in Texas. We are looking for a strong Contracts Manager who can work independently but also within a team environment.
This individual would be responsible for managing a single scope (multi-billion dollar) EPC Contract, plus covering for other EPC Contract Manager team members when they are unavailable. The Contract Manager will be responsible for writing and responding to claims, managing correspondence, and performing the work outlined below. This individual should have strong experience in claims management, strong writing skills and a minimum of 10+ years’ experience.
This position has the potential to move into a senior role on the project and within the organization.
Overview for the Contracts Manager
The Contracts Manager is responsible for rigorously managing all contracts for the engineering, procurement, and construction of a petrochemical’s facility in the U.S. gulf coast. The role is responsible for the management of a major EPC Contract in the field through closeout.
Locations/Timing: The Contracts Manager will be in the (Houston) Project offices for the first month and will mobilize full time to the U.S. gulf coast through to completion of the project.
Roles & Responsibilities for the Contracts Manager
• Administer a comprehensive contract management program that identifies risks to project costs, schedule, and quality, including contract management, claims management, and dispute avoidance.
• Draft white papers, presentations, and other write-ups for stakeholders and project management
• Advise management of risk exposure and make recommendations at various stages throughout the project lifecycle to facilitate strategic resolution of disputes and open contract claims.
• Exhibit strong legal writing and drafting skills.
• Interface with contractors on the Project, as necessary, to solve problems involving commercial matters, performance, schedule, safety, or any other matters that may arise.
• Articulate subject matter expertise on commercial terms and conditions, applicable laws, distribution of risk and liabilities, complex contracting strategies, insurance, change management, risk mitigation techniques, claims avoidance, and dispute resolution.
General Requirements for the Contracts Manager
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Years of relevant experience in legal and/or contracts – 10+
• Years of EPC project experience – 5+
• Strong writing skills required.
• Mega Project experience (preferred)
• Contract development and negotiation experience required.
