Summary: Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director for DD Day Services, the Occupational Therapist will evaluate occupational therapy needs of each individual and assist in the development and the implementation of appropriate therapy/programming.

Up to 30 hours per week 9:00am-3:00pm Monday - Friday, Flexible schedule can be lower hours.

The Occupational Therapist position is typically a 40 hour position and works at all 4 day program sites. They are responsible for OT assessments, writing goals and objectives, assessing member's dining (they are responsible for the assessment from plate to mouth. SLP assesses once the food is in the person's mouth), etc.

Contract assignment that can begin as early as 3/4/2024 and end 9/2/2024

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. 1. Evaluate and complete Occupational Therapy assessments on individuals as required by Mass Health and as needed.
  1. 2. Assist in the development of support strategies to implement Occupational Therapy recommendations as needed.
  1. 3. Develop and plan Occupational Therapy implementation based on assessment.
  1. 4. Train staff to carryover Occupational Therapy treatment plans when applicable.
  1. 5. Review and sign off on Day Habilitation Service Needs Assessments.
  1. 6. Participate in clinical team meetings.
  1. 7. Make recommendations to clinical team for implementation of Occupational Therapy needs.
  1. 8. Assess dining needs and make recommendations related to safe dining and adaptive equipment needed in conjunction with speech therapy as needed
  1. 9. Review and sign off on quarterly Clinical Team Review Form.
  1. 10. Review new referral information for potential placement in day services.
  1. 11. Participate in clinical orientation for new day habilitation staff.
  1. 12. Meet with Clinical Director for DD services and other clinicians as needed.
  1. 13. Access and input information into the electronic record system.
  2. 14. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

The Occupational Therapist should be a registered member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), must be currently licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Allied Health Professions and must have one year of relevant work experience. Some experience with a geriatric/Alzheimer's population preferred.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Knowledge and understanding of principles of normalization, behavior management and human rights.
