SUMMARY
Responsible for driving improvement across installation quality, safety, methods, and cost by developing and implementing standardized processes and procedures. Work closely with counterparts in Japan and across sites in the US, Ireland, Israel, China, and Malaysia. Analyze our business processes and metrics, develop improvement strategies, lead activities to improve Murata Machinery USA (MMUSA), monitor implementation and results, and provide mentorship to others in the organization on improvement efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Quality
Lead the quality efforts to gather and report KPIs as defined by Murata Machinery LTD Japan (MML) and MMUSA
Manage the EHSI quality system to gather quality incidents and address issues requiring permanent corrective action or long-term change efforts to address the issue.
Develop the Installation Quality Manager to drive quality improvements, improve first pass yield, reduce warranty risk, and increase customer satisfaction
Manage the handoff process from installation to both the customer and the onsite service team.
Continuous Improvement
Manage the installation standards and methods team to develop training on key systems as defined by the strategic plan.
Utilize information provided by MML to develop MMUSA training processes to create standardized work instructions and methods that provide a high-quality installation and the best cost.
Identifies opportunities to reduce costs and increase productivity by implementing improved processes in logistics, installation, adjustment and final turnover.
Strategic Planning
Lead the strategic planning effort for the installation team in coordination with MML installation leadership to define a 3-year roadmap.
Coordinate plans for implementing strategic roadmap to include training, certifications, and follow-up.
Report out plans, actions and results monthly as part of CFA Division staff report to the President.
Other Key Responsibilities
Conduct audits of installation sites to verify status of program implementation and compliance
Travel to Japan and overseas sites as needed to support activities and efforts.
Work collaboratively with the Installation Area Managers, MML and other managers to develop and implement programs that support the division 3-year strategic plan.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with assigned personnel to drive improvements in quality, productivity, cost, and other key business metrics. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
QualificationsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree from four-year College or university in Engineering, minimum of 5 years experience in related field/position, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret customer requirements and specifications. Ability to strategize, develop, present, and negotiate on internal management and customer personnel regarding schedules and implementation/safety procedures for given contracts. Ability to write reports and to effectively present information to customers and company management. Japanese language skills preferred.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Excellent technical, financial, organizational, and "process flow" analytical ability.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Familiarity with Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS). Understanding of Electro/mechanical and PLC skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project. Management, communication and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, adaptable to change and flexible regarding work schedule. Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
TRAVEL
This position requires up to 25% travel including domestic and international with overnight stays. A valid drivers license and good driving record are required.
