Continuous Improvement Coordinator

The Continuous Improvement Coordinator is responsible for the facilitation and oversight of continuous
improvement activities. They will work closely with production, quality, maintenance and shipping to increase capacity, reduce downtimes, improve efficiencies, and improve product quality. This position ensures that improvement initiatives support corporate strategies and goals. The Coordinator will be responsible for managing all CI projects, implementing all CI solutions, leading the charge on sustainment measures, detailing failure points via accountability measures, auditing current states and setting goals for future states, and documenting return on investment as a means to measure success. The CI Coordinator will have free reign to seek problem areas, host necessary events to garner cross-functional input and utilize proper documentation avenues to identify & implement solutions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follows and enforces all safety rules and regulations.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), American Institute of Baking Policy (AIB) Hazardous Communication (HAZCOM), Safety Audits Huddles
• Uses lean manufacturing experience and process management skills to identify and implement Continuous Improvement activities. This includes demand flow initiatives, cycle time reduction and capacity utilization. Facilitates training and development in lean manufacturing techniques such:
  • Time Studies, SMED Events, Kaizen Events, Just-Do-It Events, Work Flow Organization (5’s), Shadow Boards, Visual Standard Operating Procedures, Kanban Systems, Auditing Initiatives, Gemba Walks…etc.
• Works directly with Production Leadership, Maintenance Manager, and QC Manager to assess, prioritize and implement Continuous Improvement activities.
• Machinery efficiency-related initiatives to drive positive change
  • Set Up Reduction, Increase Run Speeds, Downtime Reduction Machine utilization (OEE) …etc.
• A Focus on Customer complaint directed CI-driven solutions
  • Color Variation, Folding/Skewing, Glue Application …etc.
• A focus on Waste Reduction initiatives
• Participate in training programs to improve repertoire
• Maintain high level of floor presence driving initiatives. Roughly 90% of the day spent on the production floor.
• Ensures that effective manufacturing management activities are adopted and utilized throughout the organization. Sustainment is pivotal to all Continuous Improvement activities. Driving accountability will be a key responsibility.
• Conducts routine reviews and reports on overall Continuous Improvement activities. This to be accomplished via auditing and accountability measures for sustainment.
• Return on Investment is a key metric for projects driven by the CI team. Generating innovative concepts that aid in realizing company ROI goals will be a KPI for this individual. Goals will be set annually for quarterly project/ROI objectives. Financial validation to be accomplished via our accounting team.
