JOB SUMMARY: MCASD will consider applicants with varying ranges of breadth and depth of knowledge, skills, and experience for the title range of Content & Graphic Designer and Senior Content & Graphic Designer.
Working within the Marketing & Communication efforts, the Content & Graphic Designer shares responsibility for the visual identity of MCASD across digital and print platforms, including the design of exhibition graphics, building signage, marketing collateral, event materials, social media, digital communication, and branded products for the Museum store. Will oversee the development of assets to deploy in visual storytelling for the Museum. Will work collaboratively with all departments to ensure a consistent brand focus and high-quality visual aesthetic within all aspects of production, on-time deliverables, and within budget. Support the mission and vision of Museum throughout performance of duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design, produce, and print of a wide variety of graphic materials to meet the Museum's needs, including work on advertising, promotional materials, invitations, campus signage, education activities, programs, visitor materials, and MCASD-branded shop merchandise.
- Work with internal and external partners to maintain consistent use of identity and branding across all materials. Maintain and make regular updates to the Museum's brand guide, which documents the application of the museum's graphic identity to the full range of print, digital, and environmental materials.
- Working collaboratively, lead creative direction for photography, video, and other forms of digital and design content. Hire and manage vendors and their contracts. Schedule and shoot new photography and videography as needed.
- Project manage details and schedules with the various Museum departments and
- assigned department project managers.
- Design, produce, and print the Museum's exhibitions graphics, from wall labels, vinyl, and gallery guides.
- Produce visuals for the web, digital signage, email campaigns, social media platforms, and other third-party platforms.
- Coordinate all steps of the production process with vendors.
- Preflight files before submitting digital jobs for output, alter and convert images when
- necessary, markup pages for prepress, make comps, place hi-res art, and oversee printing.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders as necessary in the execution of duties.
- Identify and problem-solve issues of cost, scheduling, and quality.
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE: Great organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, high standards of quality in terms of design and production, and the ability to produce and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Creative thinker who can offer new ideas, frame challenges, highlight opportunities, and provide practical solutions. Outstanding skills in web and digital design with experience in print production, i.e., magazine publishing, design firm, advertising agency, or similar environment. Highly proficient in Web and digital design and experience using InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat required, preferably in a Mac environment. Working knowledge of black & white, four-color, and spot print production process. Working knowledge of HTML and CSS, preferred Knowledge of Asana. Knowledge of contemporary art, design, photography, videography, web, and social media. Strong project management skills. Formal education in graphics design and three years recent, relevant experience or any equivalent education and experience. Bilingual skills preferred.
