Gulf Winds International, Inc. was founded in April 1996. The idea was to develop a full-service, third-party logistics company that would focus on warehousing, container drayage, and truckload solutions.
Today Gulf Winds is the leading intermodal drayage and warehousing provider in the Gulf region with over 750 trucks and operating over 825,000 square feet of Port Houston warehouse space. In just a few years, the company has grown from only four employees with one account to over 250 employees with strategic locations in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Mobile, Memphis, Savannah, Charleston and Norfolk
Purpose of Position
The primary focus of the Container Yard manager is overseeing all day-to-day operations of Gulf Winds container grounding yard operations. The Container Yard Manager will work with onsite labor, customer service, and dispatch teams to ensure efficient truck turn times and customer requirements are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the facility workload for Container Yard grounding operations.
- Ensure the safety culture is adhered to, day in and day out. Holding the entire staff accountable to posted zero tolerance safety items.
- Work closely with the customer service and dispatch teams to coordinate daily inbound and outbound workloads.
- Oversee facility equipment, ensuring all is in proper working order, daily inspections are conducted, and any issues are reported to Maintenance in a timely manner.
- Maintain a focus on space utilization within the yard. Ensure space is being used properly to help maintain workload efficiencies, space creation.
- Maintain a high level of service to both internal and external customers.
- Productivity-Ensure onsite labor has all items they need to be as productive as possible.
- Labor Management-Ensure labor is placed accordingly in accordance with the daily mix of workload.
- Workload Management-Review daily/weekly workloads; ensuring labor is staffed accordingly as well as communicate with Logistic Coordinators/Management for scheduling of workload.
- Safety Culture-Ensure all staff adhere to posted zero tolerance safety items.
- Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by Management.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience
- High School Diploma or GED
