Mountain West Bank is looking for a talented and motivated individual to be a Consumer Lender at our Ironwood Branch in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.  This position is responsible for conducting loan interviews; selling multiple bank products; and services to existing and prospective customers.  The candidates must exhibit strong client focus, a technical capacity, be thorough and hold confidentiality in the highest regard.  This is a full time, 37 hour a week, position.  We offer competative salaries, excellent benefits and generous PTO.

 

Salary depends on experience, Min. $23.75 + 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a working knowledge of loan, deposit, convenience, and non-deposit products.  
  • Identify new and existing customers financial service needs by observation, listening and asking probing questions.  Describe the benefits and features of products and services that fill those needs.
  • Interview customers and prospective customers for all types of loans, making referrals to other lenders and departments, as needed.
  • Make every possible effort with every customer and prospective customer to obtain their complete retail banking relationship. Follow up on all inquiries, arrangements, and details as agreed upon with customers as part of the total personal financial counseling process.
  • Complete all documentation for loans and get complete information for new accounts and other services.  Ensure adherence to legal regulations and Bank policy.
  • Possess a working knowledge, or become completely familiar with all regulations and compliance issues relating to banking, but in particular those that apply to consumer lending.
  • Verify all necessary loan information to include calculating loan to value, evaluation of proof of income, calculation of debt to income, credit report analysis, and risk assessment to the Bank.
  • Be an active part of the retail banking team, participating in all promotions, events, duties, training, and activities, not just those that relate to consumer lending.  Maintain a good working rapport with all office staff and other departments by communicating in a courteous, helpful manner.  Respond positively to new products and services and changes in procedures.  Provide accurate and timely feedback and/or problem resolution to co-workers and supervisors.
  • Attain a highly established sales performance standard for loans, per production dollar goals set by the Community Bank President.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-3  years of experience in a financial institution resulting in a broad exposure to banking products and services offered.

  • Basic understanding of credit analysis, loan structuring, collateral analysis, loan pricing and loan management.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to maintain a heavy volume of correspondence, personal contact, and telephone communication.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

  • Ability to multi-task and handle complex tasks efficiently.  Strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills

 PREFERRED EXPIRIENCE:

  • Knowledge of Mountain West Bank’s products and services
  • Previous experience in consumer lending

     

 WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
