The Consumer Closer performs a review of consumer loans for compliance and moves the loans to the booking team. This position executes quality control activities and trends to improve compliance and quality of loan closing and processing operations while demonstrating the Ameris Vision, Purpose, Expectations, and Values. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

* Reviews closed loan packages and post-closing documentation for accuracy, sufficiency, completeness, compliance and proper execution according to bank policy and regulatory requirements.

* Identifies discrepancies and issues, facilitates resolution, and takes corrective actions.

* Collaborates with loan operations partners, third parties and attorney on outstanding exception items.

* Prepares, maintains, and reviews documentation, records and data.

* Uses FCM system and software applications to track, monitor, update and maintain status and records.

* Completes adverse action review of letters and maintains the reports timely.

* Maintains compliance with internal controls, operational procedures and risk management policies.

* Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

* Advanced proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office Suite products.

* Able to effectively and persuasively express self, using language and grammar in a professional manner.

* Able to plan, organize and prioritize tasks.

* Able to provide a high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs within, and external to the organization.

* Thorough knowledge of standard and non-standard consumer loan products.

* Thorough knowledge of loan compliance policy and closing processes.

* Able to manage and organize a high volume of documents.

* General knowledge of loan accounting and general ledger practices.

* Current knowledge of banking regulations.

Industry and Work Experience:

* Minimum of (2) years related work experience in banking or financial services.

* Previous experience handling in-depth review of all types of consumer loan documentation, along with extensive knowledge/experience in perfection of liens in real estate and non-real estate secured transactions.

* Minimum of (2) years experience with core bank systems and document software applications.

Academic:

* High school diploma or GED required.

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
