Construction Inspector

We are looking for a motivated and detail oriented person to fill a Construction Inspector position from our Anchorage or Palmer office. This position will be under the general direction of the Project Engineer and will perform inspection of road and airport construction projects. Projects may be located anywhere in Alaska and typically require working long hours at the project location for an extended duration.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A 1-5 years of construction inspection experience such as underground utility, excavation, embankment, grading, paving, signs, and traffic markings.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Strong math and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must be capable of traveling to remote areas under adverse conditions via small aircraft, boat, and other regional methods of transportation. Travel to remote sites may occur during all seasons.

• Civil Engineering or Construction Technology certificate or AAS.
• Experience with DOT&PF construction projects.
• Certification in AK CESCL, ATSSA, WAQTC, or CPR.
• Experience with FAA or FHWA construction projects.
• Experience with material testing.
• Experience with Bluebeam software

• Responsible for inspecting work performed by contractor to ensure conformance with contract plans and specifications.
• Observing construction; preparing daily inspection reports; coordinating material testing; measuring and documenting quantities for payment; and informing the Project Engineer on the progress of work in the field.
• Providing professional interaction with clients, contractors, and the public.
• Assist more senior inspectors and engineers.
• Perform other duties as needed.

This position involves field and office work. While working in the field this position will be working along or near busy roadway or intersections, and in construction areas. This position may be required to lift up 60 lbs. unassisted. Much of this job is done outside where inclement weather may be encountered. When working in an office setting this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. This position may also be required to periodically occasionally climb, kneel or crouch, and reach with hands and arms.
