G Stephens, Inc. (GSI), is a Construction Management firm throughout the States of Ohio, and Western Pennsylvania. We are seeking an experienced individual to join our diverse team to help bring our clients’ visions to life. We value open communication when delivering flexible solutions and we strive for quality by treating each project as our own. We are seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join our team.
This is a full-Time position within our Construction Management and General Contracting Division in which the incumbent is responsible for assisting with inspection and analyzing site construction activity.
Supervision Received:
The incumbent receives direct supervision from the assigned Project Manager. Daily contact is made with the supervisor concerning the progress of the work and any complications surrounding the work being completed on the project.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serves as on-site inspector for the construction division, reviewing and monitoring the method of operation in performance of job tasks, equipment, and method of construction.
2. Monitors project cost and schedule using various electronic methods.
3. Identifies areas of possible problems, offers alternative ways of resolving problem.
4. Reviews and maintains awareness of code and safety requirements.
5. Reviews Contractors pay requests.
6. Reviews drawings and specifications for compliance by Contractors.
7. Provides project reports as required.
8. Keeps Project Manager informed of all project activities and specific problems, which may arise.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures as applied to the construction industry.
2. Knowledge of general construction acceptable practices and standards.
3. Ability to read, understand and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings and specifications.
4. Ability to proofread technical materials and recognize errors.
5. Ability to work harmoniously with others.
6. Ability to establish a friendly atmosphere when possible on job sites.
7. Ability to plan, organize and execute work.
8. Ability to analyze facts and exercise judgment in making independent decisions.
Suggested Training and Experience:
- The nature of work involved in this position requires prior work experience or knowledge of the construction industry in which the candidate worked extensively in engineering or architecture. The candidate must understand all facets of construction, as well as the technical aspects of contract bidding and writing estimates. Prior computer experience and understanding is also required.
Education
- Pursuant of two (2) years course work towards Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture or Associates Degree in same.
