Construction Crew
- Read and interpret contract plans and specifications for roadway and bridge construction.
- Monitor traffic control for public safety and ensure contractor compliance.
- Report and coordinate all assigned phases of work between the senior inspector and the contractor.
- Inspect delivered materials in a timely manner, document the results, give the results to the senior inspector and advise the contractor.
- Check the quality, quantity, method of placement and grade for all rock, concrete forms and reinforcing steel.
- Reject materials which do not comply with specifications and suspend non-specification procedures until the senior inspector is notified.
- Assist and perform signal inspections, erosion control inspections and review traffic control plans.
- Review right of way obligations.
- Train staff in project documentation and office administration.
- Operate, fix and maintain assigned motor vehicles, survey equipment and other equipment.
- Work outdoors, in all weather conditions and near heavy traffic and construction equipment.

An equivalent combination of education and experience (such as a bachelor’s degree in engineering plus two and one-half years’ engineering experience).
- Experience in construction inspection and contract administration, highway experience preferred.
- Experience interpreting construction plans and specifications.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working on a team.
- Certification in general construction inspection.
