MEET POLAR FIELD SERVICES, INC.

We are a rare company. Since 1999, we've been taking our clients wherever they need to go, no matter how remote the location or challenging the conditions may be. We plan their expeditions, keep them safe in places that are anything but, and supply food, shelter, power, water, and waste removal. We then return the site to such a pristine condition no one would ever know we were there. We haven't been everywhere. Just a lot of places most people haven't.

Our team is made up of skilled people who are passionate about supporting cutting-edge science and making a difference in our world. As thanks for their courage and hard work, we offer excellent compensation and outstanding benefits. We take our jobs seriously, but our company culture is relaxed, dog-friendly, and casually dressed. We are looking to add more adventurous souls to our team!

YOUR ADVENTURE AS A CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN - LEAD CARPENTER

In this seasonal skilled trade position, you play an important leadership role at our remote field station. Our construction superintendent relies on you to coordinate and supervise a team of skilled trade workers. As someone who leads by example, you work alongside your crew to erect new buildings and maintain our facilities. You treat your team with respect, and you've earned their respect in return. An excellent communicator, you clearly outline your expectations and support your crew as you work together to complete jobs according to schedule.

Your years of carpentry and building experience serve you well as you read project blueprints and specifications. Organized and efficient, you thoroughly plan out each project and perform material take-offs. Since you keep careful track of our inventory, you always know exactly which materials we have on hand. During the projects, you create redlines and as-builts to document project changes. Thanks to you, our buildings are constructed to withstand the elements and keep our team safe and snug. Although working in a cold, remote location comes with unique challenges, you're thrilled to wake up each day in this wild and beautiful place!

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

We're searching for someone with strong problem-solving and communication skills who meets the following qualifications:

  • 6+ years of extensive carpentry experience, including rough framing, finish carpentry, and design
  • 2+ years as a carpentry lead, foreman, or supervisor
  • Experience working with and leading a diverse skilled trade team
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Willingness to drive a snowmobile and other polar vehicles
