POSITION SUMMARY
The Commercial Construction Estimator plays a critical role in GC Legacy Construction
and is responsible for winning bids by accurately estimating the costs associated with
commercial construction projects. This role involves a combination of technical
expertise, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of construction processes. This
role reports to the Senior Estimator and the successful candidate will communicate
effectively with the Construction Manager, Project Manager, Subcontractors and the
Client to ensure projects are estimated accurately and put GC Legacy Construction in a
position to be awarded the project.

OBJECTIVES
● Perform material takeoffs and quantity surveys to determine the exact quantities
of materials and labor required for each aspect of the project
● Solicit, evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier bids to secure the best
value.
● Calculate and prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial construction
projects, taking into account labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
● Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors and partners.
Communicate effectively and professionally to address questions, concerns, and
changes in project scope.
● Collaborate with project managers and business development teams to prepare
competitive bids and proposals for potential construction projects, ensuring
estimates align with the project's scope and specifications.
● Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations
● Maintain accurate and organized records of estimates and bids.
● Review historical cost data and benchmarking to refine cost estimates and
ensure they are in line with industry standards and market conditions
● Ensure that cost estimates meet quality standards and accuracy levels, and that
they are consistent with project goals and objectives.
● Proactively stay up to date with building codes, regulations, safety standards,
industry trends, construction techniques, and new materials to improve
estimating accuracy and efficiency.
COMPETENCIES
● Demonstrated expertise in accurately interpreting construction plans and
specifications
● Proven ability to solicit and obtain multiple subcontractor bids per scope, analyze
and compile to create the best project estimate
● Working knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
● Attention to detail and commitment to ensuring that construction estimates
meet or exceed quality standards.
● Working knowledge or industry specific software, tools and databases
● Proven experience in effectively analyzing data
● In-depth understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
● Strong organizational skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
● Experience in estimating Commercial Construction projects, preferably ground
up construction
● Strong understanding of construction plans and specifications
● Excellent relationship building skills
● Problem-solving and organizational skills
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
● Ability to utilize construction reporting tools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
● Prolonged periods of time standing, speaking, walking, and/or sitting
● This position may require occasional travel: less than 10%
