Position: Digital Skills Trainer
Department: Mission Services -- North Texas Career and Technical Institute
Supervisor: Director of Career Services
FLSA: Contract
(Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 8:30am-5:30pm – 24 hours total- 1 hour lunch break)
Position Summary:
Through the North Texas Career and Technical Institute (a program of Goodwill Dallas), we provide job training and career pathway development that provide multiple avenues to self-sufficiency. Workplace skills, especially digital literacy skills, are key to preparing our clients for a job in today’s technological environment or to gaining new skills for their next career move. The Digital Skills Trainer will deliver Goodwill’s Information Technology curriculum that meets modern workplace standards, aligns with, and prepares students for employment and/or more advanced IT training, and utilizes a student-centered approach. This role provides training using hybrid service delivery systems, both in-person and virtual services.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach students how to operate computer software and assess their abilities to use computers.
- Deliver instruction for basic and advanced computer skills that lead to employability and/or industry-recognized credentials using varied modalities: in-person group and individual service delivery, blended learning, and virtual/online methodologies as appropriate.
- Facilitate online learning modules that can be delivered to students remotely and outside traditional classroom environments. Use student learning management systems as appropriate to deliver curriculum and document student progress.
- Monitor lab time for students to practice newly acquired skills.
- Keep accurate class rosters and update student records weekly.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Lead Trainer, Director, VP, or Executive staff.
- Some travel within the Goodwill Dallas service area is required.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and IT Certificates and Credentials required.
- Preferred one or more of the following certifications: Amazon Web, Google Suite Tools, Microsoft Office Specialist, CompTIA IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer, Comp TIA Security, CompTIA Network, ITIL 4.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365, and web-based data management systems and applications for computer instruction and employment. Possess ability to install/uninstall software, troubleshoot basic hardware problems, and keep up with current software.
- Prior experience in classroom instruction, one-on-one training and train-the-trainer methods is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory, current digital learning curriculum, and methodologies and adult learning theory.
- Computer programming/ experience teaching logic mapping and basic coding preferred.
- Proficiency with using Google classroom, hangout, meet and drive web applications.
- Ability to work independently on projects
- Expert level in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
