Headwaters School, a Pre-K through grade 12 independent day school serving 530 students across its three campuses in Austin, TX, is seeking a full time Computer Science/Design Technology Teacher in our High School for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Ideal candidates for this position will have experience modeling a student-centered teaching philosophy, emphasize problem solving strategies, and demonstrate expertise in differentiation in teaching students. A strong proficiency with technology appropriate to the classroom is integral to this role. Headwaters High School proudly offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) to all students in the 11th and 12th grades. Candidates with IB experience and training are encouraged to apply.
The course load for this position will include teaching five sections of middle and high Computer Science and Design Technology courses and leading an advisory. Candidates will also be prepared to participate in the life of the school, including, but not limited to supervision of lunch, teaching an elective, coaching, sponsoring a club, serving as an advisor, chaperoning trips, and other duties as assigned by the High School Director.
Teaching Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required, degree in science, math, Computer Science or a related field preferred
- At least three years prior experience teaching in a middle school or High School setting with demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, preferred
- International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) experience and training, preferred
- Expertise in programming, problem solving, algorithm development, digital logic, and related topics. Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, and Arduino languages
- Proficiency in 3D modeling, preferably Fusion360 as well as electronics, including Arduino, sensors, LEDs, motors, and more
- Proficiency in using and servicing makerspace equipment. Ability to effectively learn and adapt to new software and technology

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position and compensation is competitive for the greater Austin area.
