Job Description

Raleigh Water provides water and sanitary sewer services to about 198,000 metered customers and a service population of about 600,000 people in Raleigh, Garner, Wake Forest, Rolesville, Knightdale, Wendell, and Zebulon areas.
We are looking for a Technology Specialist who has knowledge of Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and who also understands asset management principles. Candidates who have backgrounds in Asset Management, GIS, and CMMS systems are the focus for this type of position. Also, candidates will need to work closely with GIS, Water/Sewer divisions, and vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as analyst to evaluate and optimize utility management processes regarding the use, maintenance, repair, and replacement of assets. Provides management with reports and analysis necessary for effective decision-making in equipment replacement, energy conservation, and capital replenishment.
  • Prepares procedures and flowcharts to define workflow processes and translates these processes into the CMMS.
  • Defines, implements, and enforces template configuration standards and maintenance activities for all utility assets.
  • Oversees implementation and training of the CMMS at all facilities. Provides comprehensive helpdesk service for all users.
  • Defines and administers software users' access control to protect software integrity.
  • Understands the database structure and reporting tools to effectively extract accurate information in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with Information Technology Services and CMMS users to facilitate solutions for asset management activities.
  • Oversees the library of O&M manuals, drawings, manufacturer's specification sheets, schematics and effectively integrates associated scanned images into the CMMS.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience
Associate's Degree in computer science, information technology or directly related field and three years of related technology support experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing/Certifications
  • Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Eight years of related experience, training and/or education in Asset Management, Information Technology or GIS with three of those years in CMMS development and project management in an increasingly responsible capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Asset Management, Engineering or related field, including major coursework in computer science and engineering and significant coursework in asset management.

ADA and Other Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); and moderate exposure to travel.
