This position is available for graduate or doctoral students to participate in supervised practical training in a professional technical field. Assists in the completion of non-routine and advanced tasks; assists in the analysis, investigation and solution of complex problems; and assists in developing electronic and hard copy documentation as required. Under limited supervision, working on non-routine and advanced projects with general instructions.
Under the guidance of a lead engineer/mentor, support internal aerodynamics and thermal analysis tasks. Tasks may include, as determined by contemporary project goals and mentor, CFD based internal flow or external flow simulations, construction and analysis of MATLAB, Simulink or Excel based thermal models, and documentation of results using Microsoft Office software.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Requires professional interest in Aircraft Environmental Controls/Thermal Management or Aerodynamics as a career.
- Requires strong MATLAB, Microsoft Office, and technical communication skills.
- Requires completion of at least one course in Fluid Dynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer.
- Preferred: Linux experience, completion of one course (or related project or internship experience) using a commercial CFD solver and commercial meshing software.
- Preferred: additional coursework and/or experience in: aerodynamics, CFD, numerical methods, flow control, aircraft performance, propulsion, stability & control, flight dynamics, aircraft design, ANSA.
- Participates in the day to day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of advanced tasks.
- Assists in applying knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve complex problems.
- Assists in developing electronic and hard copy reports, records, diagrams and charts.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.
