Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced computational chemist to design and optimize small-molecule drug candidates using advanced computational techniques. The successful applicant will work as part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists, lead research projects in pursuit of novel small molecule therapeutics, and mentor junior staff.
Responsibilities:
- Leverage diverse computational strategies as part of a cross-functional discovery project team to inform and prioritize small molecule designs to improve potency, selectivity, and ADME/Tox endpoints.
- Identify and implement modeling capabilities via vendor, CRO, and consultant partnerships
- Effectively communicate the results of computational studies to non-experts
- Write Standard Operating Procedures and maintain a high-quality Electronic Laboratory Notebook.
- Work on teams with diverse scientific backgrounds and foster a collaborative culture to conduct world-class science.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. in a relevant field with a focus on Computational Chemistry
- Experience in computational support of small molecule drug discovery in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting and a B.S. with 8+ years experience, M.S. with 5+ years experience or Ph.D. with 2+ years experience
- Proficiency in general molecular modeling techniques (docking, molecular simulation, homology modeling, molecular dynamics, ligand- and structure-based design)
- Experience with modeling software packages (e.g., Schrodinger, OpenEye, MOE, Rosetta)
- Skilled in scientific programming (e.g., Python, Pipeline Pilot), Linux, and data analytics (e.g., Spotfire)
- Familiarity with organic and synthetic chemistry concepts
- Strong collaboration skills (verbal and written communication, organization, teamwork, and creativity)
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in a dynamic startup environment
