General description
Join the Communications and Information Services team as a Writer/Editor! Work involves writing, editing and researching to ensure the accuracy of online and print content, including that published in Fiscal Notes; for agency programs such as the Broadband Development Office and Opioid Abatement Fund Council; and for internal initiatives such as professional development and employee engagement events. Target audiences include legislators, taxpayers and agency employees. May work with designers to translate agency-generated economic data into data visualization; may gather web analytics and based on results, recommend content changes to division management. The candidate must have the ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply knowledge appropriately in a highly active environment with ever-changing circumstances. Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of the General Educational Development test (GED).
5 years' experience in journalism, public relations, public information, communications, or media relations.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with major coursework in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications, or a related field.
Substitutions
Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
In this role you will:
Knowledge of:
General knowledge of state government agency functions and policies; news and communication media; editing and preparing informational material; design principles; and print and online publishing.
GovDelivery or other mass email platforms, and best practices for sending mass email.
Skill in:
Editorial and print and web design practices.
Use of a computer and applicable software, including collaborative platforms.
Ability to:
Research and prepare information to design communication plans/creative briefs and materials related to agency goals and priorities, to compose usable online and print content, and to communicate effectively.
