Responsible for developing and maintaining various Compliance programs/frameworks including, but not limited to Enterprise Disclosure Governance, Operational Execution Risk Convergence and Compliance Model Risk. In addition, supporting Compliance efforts related to Records Management, Business Continuity, Huntington’s notary program, Climate Risk framework and Compliance driven meetings/events and other Program Office related activities, as needed.


Major Areas of Accountability (Core)

  • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of the Enterprise Disclosure Governance (EDG v 2.0) framework. Refresh and update related documentation to reflect refinements to the framework and work with Compliance colleagues and other enterprise stakeholders to implement the framework across applicable stakeholders. Develop and implement monitoring routines and controls to facilitate ongoing Compliance governance and oversight.
  • Responsible for implementation of Operational Execution Risk Convergence Oversight. Collaborate with Operational Risk to roll-out a framework owned by the Business Segment to mitigate execution and hand-off process risks which could drive non-compliance of applicable laws, rules, requirements. Update framework and related documentation and train Compliance colleagues to assess operational risks or gaps which could result in non-compliance. Develop and implement monitoring routines and controls to facilitate ongoing Compliance governance and oversight.
  • Provide Compliance support and guidance as it relates to broader Records Management and Business Continuity initiatives. Serve as the conduit back to Compliance to ensure Compliance colleagues have clear direction when action is required.
  • Maintain and evolve the Compliance Model Risk framework, evaluating opportunities ways to continue to streamline and automate the workflow, where possible. Provide oversight of new and existing model risk assessments executed by Corporate Compliance through the establishment of a formalized Quality Assurance program and implementation of related controls and control testing.
  • Provide oversight and Compliance advisory support to Huntington’s notary program, in conjunction/coordination with other Compliance Group Managers/Compliance Section Managers who support applicable business segments. Provide recommendations to further evolve the program and assist in required implementation, as needed.
  • Represent Compliance in the establishment of the Climate Risk framework through active participation and engagement in the Climate Risk Working Group. Ensure Compliance-related risks and matters are considered and addressed, as needed within the framework.
  • Assist in coordination and preparation of the Legal, Regulatory and Compliance (LRC) Committee and periodic Compliance department-wide meetings including setting the agenda, developing/obtaining content from stakeholders/attendees, and meeting logistics. Provide similar support for other Compliance related meetings/events as needed.
  • Provide support to Compliance colleagues on Compliance program initiatives which could include but not limited to: follow-up/escalation on incomplete Compliance coursework, distribution of the Monthly Compliance Monitoring materials, project management support on critical Compliance initiatives (e.g. regulatory risk assessments) and testing of Program-Office related controls.   
  • Assist the Director and/or Chief Compliance Officer with writing, editing, and in limited circumstances, presenting compliance material.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining procedures, guides and tools for areas of responsibilities within the Compliance Program Office.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in the financial industry.
  • 5 years of risk management experience, compliance risk preferred, in the finance, or related industry with knowledge of federal and state consumer protection and public interest laws and regulations, supervisory compliance examination procedures, regulatory guidance and industry best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to organize and motivate peers and senior leadership across various business lines to execute against complex projects and defined timelines.
  • Detail oriented. Ability to problem solve and assess work priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Strong interpersonal, collaboration and advocacy skills. Strong presentation skills.
  • Project management skills. 
  • High degree of initiative and excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and reprioritize tasks as needed.
  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) professional certification required or obtained within 12 months.
  • Experience with supervisory compliance examination under CFPB, OCC, FFIEC, and FinCEN.
  • Experience as a regulatory bank examiner, financial industry compliance professional, or consultant.
  • Completion of ABA National, Intermediate, or Graduate Compliance School.
  • Research experience; ability to interpret laws and regulations and provide solutions.
  • Computer aptitude with emphasis on Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience leveraging data/systems to automate processes and bring efficiencies.
  • Ability to identify process enhancements and efficiencies and redesign process accordingly without sacrificing quality of output.
  • Knowledge of banking operations and bank technology.
