Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Sommelier to join our esteemed team at Restaurant June of Chef Sean Brock, a fine dining establishment renowned for its exquisite tasting menu. This role will also provide support to our sister restaurant, Audrey, ensuring seamless wine service when the Lead Sommelier for Audrey is unavailable.

As the Lead Sommelier, you will play a crucial role in curating an exceptional wine program that enhances our guests' dining experience. You will be responsible for wine ordering, inventory management, and ensuring that our wine pairings perfectly complement our tasting menu.

June Restaurant: June is intimately designed to be an experimental journey to explore the freshest and most luxurious ingredients in new and creative ways.  

Audrey Restaurant: is a culinary gem, celebrating the diverse flavors of the South with a focus on Appalachian and Southern cuisine. Our menu is a carefully crafted fusion of traditional and innovative dishes, showcasing the richness of Southern culinary traditions. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Wine Pairings: Develop and maintain an outstanding wine pairing program that enhances the flavors and presentation of our tasting menu.
• Ordering and Inventory Management: Oversee the procurement of wines, manage inventory levels, and ensure proper storage conditions.
• Customer Experience: Provide exceptional service to our guests, offering expert advice on wine selections and pairings.
• Staff Training: Conduct regular training sessions for our staff on wine knowledge, service standards, and pairing techniques.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the culinary team to understand and complement the tasting menu, creating harmonious pairings.
• Support at Audrey: Assist at Audrey during the absence of their Lead Sommelier, ensuring consistent wine service standards across both venues.
• Events and Tastings: Organize and host wine tastings, dinners, and events to enhance the wine culture within our restaurants.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a sommelier. Fine dining experience is a plus.
• Certification: Certification from a recognized wine education institution (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET).
• Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, varietals, and wine service.
• Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate guests and staff alike.
• Passion: A genuine passion for wine and food, with a commitment to delivering an unparalleled dining experience.
• Flexibility: Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
