Job Title:Compliance Officer
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
ROLE SUMMARY
As a North AmericaCompliance Officer you oversee the implementation and ongoing review of compliance initiatives related to licensing, training, internal monitoring, risk mitigation and fraud. You ensure the company and its employees are complying with internal security and safety policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements within the US and Canada.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITY
- Assist the UK Head of Compliance with the execution of regulatory compliance in the US and Canada.
- Assist in responding to regulators and financial counterparties (banks, aggregators, etc.) as needed.
- Assist in responding to state examination requests, independent review preparation, and implementing recommendations from reports of examinations.
- Work closely with the UK Compliance team and manage the US Licensing process, regulatory reporting and maintain active licensing in all states.
- Assist with handling law enforcement inquiries, customer complaints and compliance training for all Leatherback employees.
- Work closely and provide insight to other Compliance team members, including the Onboarding and Transaction monitoring team.
- Be a critical member of the global business's compliance team, which will include updating and enhancing the Enterprise Risk Assessment, the US and Canadian Compliance Programs, as well as many other Compliance related policies and procedures.
ROLE REQUIRMENTS
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience for a money services business (MSB), or equivalent experience in regulated financial services.
- Excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Thorough understanding of the laws, regulations, and industry codes of practice applicable to financial institutions and three lines of defense models.
- Experience reviewing, updating, and creating policies and procedures.
- Ability to conduct gap analyses and oversee related action plans.
- A business-minded strategist who operates with a strong passion for and understanding of our corporate mission and guiding principles.
- A self-starter that takes the initiative, self-manages, and requires little day-to-day direction to be successful.
- CAMS Certification preferred.
- Pre-existing work authorization in the United States/Canada
