Job Description
Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (Otsuka) recognizes that there are a growing number of law school students interested in pursuing careers in the compliance field. In recognition of this interest, Otsuka has created a paid Corporate Compliance Internship Program for qualified law school students.
The Corporate Compliance Internship Program will provide an opportunity for a student who is interested in the compliance and/or health law field to work with experienced compliance and legal professionals. The Program will include hands-on work projects that provide practical experience with the legal, compliance, and business drivers that are present within a pharmaceutical and healthcare services company.
Duration:
Ten (10) weeks (June to August).
The primary focus of the Corporate Compliance Internship Program will be to assist with projects overseen by experienced compliance professionals (many of whom are attorneys) and related to Otsuka's healthcare compliance initiatives. The intern is also expected to gain exposure to other functional areas within Otsuka and will have the opportunity to meet and interact with seasoned professionals of varying backgrounds and business roles.
Qualifications/ Required
Knowledge/ Experience and Skills:
The intern will be selected from a slate of qualified candidates, assembled by the selected law school(s), based on factors including law school and undergraduate academic performance, the student's motivation to accept a compliance position for the summer, and the student's intention to ultimately pursue a career in the compliance and/or health law field. Academic qualifications include a minimum grade point average of 3.33 during law school, as of the date the internship application is submitted to Otsuka.
To apply, students must submit the following to their appropriate law school administration:
  • a recent resume
  • the student's most recent transcript; and
  • a 500-word statement detailing the student's career goals.

Upon the conclusion of the summer internship, the recipient will submit (to appropriate law school administration) a two to five page statement reflecting on the summer experience, in addition to a one page statement about what the summer position entailed; these statements will be made available to both Otsuka and future candidates for informational purposes and may be used for future marketing of the internship. The recipient will also be asked to sign a public relations authorization release form, so that his or her name can be released for purposes of publicizing the internship and providing information to other students.
Educational Qualifications
Minimum
  • Currently enrolled in law school
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment
