Job Description
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Compensation Manager, the Compensation Analyst provides professional level support in administering compensation programs, practices, and policies, including data preparation and analysis. Creates, updates, and maintains job descriptions and compensation management systems and related tools.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
  • Supports Compensation Manager in the evaluation of First United's compensation programs to ensure the programs are effective, equitable, and consistently applied across the organization. Participates in compensation projects, meets established project objectives, and works collaboratively with all relevant sources, requesting input as needed. Provides thorough communication regarding project details and shares status updates to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Conducts market pricing activities, including analysis of market pay, analysis of internal/external compensation, market, and corresponding trends. Conducts job evaluation activities including job audits, determining correct classifications, and creating, maintaining, and updating job descriptions.
  • Provides compensation data to HR partners, escalating complex issues as needed. Creates and facilitates compensation related presentations and assists with the preparation of meeting materials, including semi-annual Compensation Committee meetings. Assists with the development of compensation related training to HR staff and internal customers.
  • Creates, manages, and prepares compensation analytics and modeling reports. Pulls data from HR systems and performs analysis to aid in decision making or recommendations concerning compensation programs and practices. Participates by generating cost analysis for current and proposed compensation programs. Utilizes spreadsheets/databases to manage employee and competitive compensation data. Generates and interprets compensation related reports from HR systems and compensation management systems.
  • Assists Compensation Manager in reviewing, interpreting, and ensuring compensation programs comply with laws, rules, and policy/procedures. Updates, documents, and assists with training employees on HR policies and procedures related to compensation as requested.
  • Responsible for administering monthly merit increase process along with assisting in annual processes for officer merit increases and MBO bonus calculation and payout.
  • Responsible for calculation and administration of various incentive compensation plans.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures
  • Complete all required compliance exams on an annual basis
  • Travel up to 10% of the time possible
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required with at least 1-2 years of work experience in a Human Resources department in an Analyst capacity.

Technical & Functional Competencies/Skills
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, research methods and data analysis techniques
  • Strong Excel skills for analysis and presentation of data
  • Understanding of compensation salary planning, incentive programs and market pricing
  • Skill in conducting compensation studies and making sound recommendations
  • Ability to prepare written reports for audiences at all levels
  • Ability to handle difficult, sensitive, and confidential matters and situations
  • Builds rapport with employees and managers in conducting job analysis
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally
  • Works well under pressure and ability to regularly re-prioritize tasks
  • Understands and follows broad and complex instructions
