Company Manager
Reports to: Managing Director
Start Date: on/about May 15, 2024 (flexible +-1 day)
End Date: September 10, 2024 (flexible end date)
Entry level Company Manager position (also will work collaboratively with and manage the Company Management Intern)
● Assist Managing Director with pre-season work as needed (mostly preparing house for staff arrivals and updating/familiarizing yourself with travel calendar)
● Basic knowledge of the housing matrix and how to adjust and add to it throughout the season (this is the housing document that shows where each person on-site is living)
● Basic knowledge of housing rentals for company housing
● Stock the rented properties with kitchen supplies and bedding and confirming internet connectivity and manage professional cleaning staff
● Changeover rooms between guest artists and employees (wash linens, vacuum and dust, clean bathrooms and make sure stocked with toilet paper and paper towels)
● Train and work with Company Management Intern and manage throughout the season
● Monitor housing and cleaning supplies
● Monitor and inventory office supplies and medical supplies
● Liaison between Company and Kitchen (Head Chef and Kitchen Staff) about any food allergies and Barnies on-site number
● Pickup and drop-off service for guest artists and employees including airport runs (BOS and MHT), Dartmouth Coach in New London and Lebanon, and Amtrak White River Junction
● Showing new employees their allotted housing and familiarizing them with the property and the area
● Provide basic knowledge about company business when new employees arrive on-sight (company car rules, parking rules, doctor visits, town suggestions…)
● Distribute weekly paychecks/paystubs
● Manage Company Car and Beach Pass sign-outs
Manage Company Management budgets
● Taking employees to doctor appointments (LifeLong Care or ER for emergencies)
● Providing transportation for Company Members to rehearsal, theater, or housing
● Organizing company cast parties and opening night champagne toasts and providing ‘DD’ drives home from said events when needed
● Manage housing opening and closing including ‘love your housing’ at the end of the summer, check-in/check-outs, Colby Sawyer, or other rental properties
● Transporting Company Members to events throughout the summer
● Primary first line of contact for Company Members
● Car and valid license required
● If you can fold a fitted sheet YOU’RE HIRED
● Other duties as assigned and agreed upon
Please note- there is an element of Health and Safety governance with this position. Since the New London Barn Playhouse works under Actors’ Equity jurisdiction these responsibilities will be relayed as we get closer to the arrival of the summer season.
Total compensation (plus housing, all meals and r/t travel) $5,000 (for the summer).
