This position is a 40 hr. per week, 12 month grant funded position. Position reports directly to the Senior Director of Medical Programs and Services.

Position Summary:
The Community Support Coordinator is responsible for building strategic partnerships between the Humane Society of Sarasota County and local nonprofit and targeted municipal animal shelter partners. The position will work on improving customer relations and perception by increasing life-saving efforts. The coordinator will be responsible for generating interest in the supported agencies programs by maximizing marketing, community engagement, and implementing best practices pertaining to sheltering, adoption, rescue, transfer, return to owner, and community cat programs. This position will also be involved in the development of the foster and volunteer programs and scheduling. This position involves frequent travel to and from HSSC and partner shelters and coordinates closely with all departments at HSSC to ensure any animals identified will have the quickest path to a positive outcome.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Serves in a leadership role, possessing a solid understanding of proven strategies to increase dog and cat lifesaving.
- Work collaboratively with our partner agencies to create change to achieve and sustain no-kill in the designated community.
· Possess solid leadership experience in animal shelter operations.
· Train staff and volunteers following HSSC approved protocols and guidelines.
· Coordinate and transport cats and dogs to and from transfer partners.
· Other duties as assigned based on company needs.
Required Knowledge, Experience and Understanding.
· High School Diploma/GED required.
· Minimum of 5 years’ exp working for or with an Animal Welfare organization
· Clear understanding of Animal Welfare and ability to teach others.
· Understands Population Management and C4C in a shelter setting.
· Experience and working knowledge in community cat TNVR style programs.
· Experienced in the processes required with the intake of animals at a shelter.
Skills, and Abilities
· Able to handle cats and dogs of all breeds, sizes, behavior, and disposition.
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
· Outgoing, comfortable speaking in front of groups, working with animals, and standing for prolonged periods of time.
· A self-starter organized and detail oriented capable of accepting and completing work assignments with minimal supervision in a highly motivated manner.
· Professional appearance and presentation.
· Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license with driving record acceptable to be added to company vehicle insurance.
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds.
· Must be able to drive an HSSC transport vehicle.
· Must have own reliable transportation.
· Must be able to work directly with cats and dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperament.
Position Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Days and hours may vary, and additional hours may be required including weekends and holidays.
