Central Florida Diaper Bank is seeking an experienced Community Support Worker to join our team. This position reports to the Executive Director and is a person who has a passion for making a difference in the community and can help fulfill our organization’s mission by reaching out to the community and making meaningful connections.
General Description:
As a Community Support Worker, you will provide direct assistance and social support services to parents to determine areas of need, set goals, and develop a service plan. In addition to providing assessments, advocacy and case management. Provide linkage to community resources for financial, medical, mental health, educational, employment, housing, and other social services for parents. Assist with Mobile Unit Distributions.
Facilitate Community linkages and make referrals to community service providers to accomplish service plan goals. Assess the progress toward completing the service plan goals and identify areas requiring further assistance, regularly conduct follow-up meetings with clients. The Community Support Worker should be conscientious about keeping accurate documentation. Community Collaboration and community resources is vital to this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
· High School Diploma. Associates Degree preferred
· Must be Bilingual (Spanish or Creole)
· Certified Community Support Worker a plus
· One (1) year of paid work experience in case management, supporting families, reducing family stress, and teaching positive parent-child interaction skills is required. Exceptional interpersonal skills and a caring demeanor
· Exceptional communication and verbal skills, self-starter, computer literate, ability to create reports
· Ability to create a case plan with proven results
· Must be proficient with Data Analysis
· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
· Well organized, have multitasking skills, and a positive attitude
· Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), mail merge, creating flyers and social media skills.
· Must be able show empathy to the needs of clients. Responds quickly. Use Good judgment skills. Must be conscientious about following policies and procedures
· Must be discreet with confidential information
· Flexible schedule required. Some nights and weekends. Attend events as needed
· Other duties as required. Must be a Team Player
· Hours- 40 per week. Mon-Fri. Must be flexible to work some evenings and weekends
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:
Must pass Level II background screening. Selected candidate responsible to pay cost for background check. Will be reimbursed after 90 days of employment.
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License, clean driving record, must be 21 years old, be insurable under the Central Florida Diaper Bank insurance policy requirements, and have daily access to reliable transportation to and from work and for travel to off-site locations.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Ability to sit and operate a computer for extended periods.
• Ability to speak in front of large groups.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
• Office environment
• Must also be comfortable working outside in various weather conditions for community events
• Ability to travel within Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk and Seminole Counties
