Community Organizer Job Description
THE ORGANIZATION: We are a Black youth-led organization focused on civic engagement. We are passionate about empowering young people of color with the education and resources to make their voices heard through voting. As a collective, we aim to educate, inform, and train young leaders to build community and serve Black communities across the globe. We do this by elevating young Black folx, particularly the most marginalized populations, and providing culturally relevant and responsible information training and resources for young people.
At Collective Renaissance Georgia (CRG), we believe that the future of our democracy lies in our ability to organize the power of the collective. Through leadership development, civic engagement, civic education, voter registration, and voter mobilization, we can build a generation ready to lead, govern, and build the inclusive democracy of America’s promise.
SUMMARY: Visits homes and tables at events in Black communities with the goal of increasing Black political engagement and voter registration. This is a seasonal part-time position with possible opportunities for contract extension.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Canvasses to identify issues most important to the black community via direct street contact, door-to-door engagement, and deep relational conversations.
- Engages community members and voters around voter registration, voter education, Vote by Mail, and Get Out The Vote (GOTV). Increases Black voter turnout through Get Out The Vote tactics.
- Coordinates community meetings to gather surveys and conduct issue-based discussions.
- Follow all required reporting procedures.
- Follows all established safety and security protocols. Escalates any concerns to the Organizer Lead.
- Promotes an environment in which equal opportunity and diversity are valued.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Tabling at local areas in an effort to register Georgians to vote
- Knowing and following all of Georgia’s voter registration laws and adhering to those rules at all timesQUALIFICATIONS:COMPETENCIES:PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Passion and enthusiasm for promoting civic engagement within the Black community.
- Must be a current registered voter or be eligible to register to vote.
- Legible handwriting is required.
- Must be able to work flexible hours of up to 30 hours per week. Some Saturday/Sunday event participation is required.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.

Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
