Full-time Community Liaison


We are looking for a Community Liaison with outside sales and marketing experience. Someone who has experience with establishing and maintaining positive relationships in our community. General Statement of Duties: The Community Liaison serves in providing hospice education in the community and to surrounding referral partners. Additionally, this role assists with the planning and implementation of outreach and education strategies by cultivating relationships within the community for the purpose of driving referrals and building patient census.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Community Outreach Coordinator to implement a strategic sales marketing plan to increase referrals and referral partners.
  • Successfully executes a weekly, monthly, and quarterly strategy to increase market share through key account development including prospecting/diversification and call frequency/routing.
  • Responsible for executing effective sales calls that identify and meet the needs of the referral community and clearly communicates the unique features and benefits Hospice of Lenawee provides. These include pre and post call planning, establishing rapport, effective questioning skills, proposing solutions, handling objections, and closing.
  • Schedules and organizes public speaking events to educate the community on end-of-life care.
  • Encourages timely consideration by referral sources for hospice as an alternative mode of care for the purpose of supportive care for terminally ill patients.
  • Works with the Community Outreach Coordinator to maximize outreach opportunities.
  • Supports the Director of Development as needed in public relations efforts.
  • Teaches and counsels the patient/family and referral sources regarding hospice care opportunities.
  • Available for evening and weekend events.
  • Serves on community boards and committees with referral potential.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining professional relationships with referral sources, including, but not limited to, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and senior centers.
  • Responsible for being a good steward of the organization’s financial resources by projecting a return on monies spent and managing to a marketing expense budget.
  • Plans activity to maximize territory coverage of both existing and prospective accounts.
  • Responsible for setting and achieving referral and admission goals/expectations in collaboration with the Community Outreach Coordinator.
  • Extensive local travel of our coverage area required. (see territory map)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with the hospice philosophy of care for the dying.
  • Thorough knowledge of the mission and values of Hospice of Lenawee, its history in the community, and its vision for the future with the ability to represent Hospice of Lenawee professionally in all settings.
  • Ability to work closely and collaborate with the President & CEO, Director of Patient Care, Director of Development, Community Outreach Coordinator, and Admissions Team.
  • Ability to function autonomously and manage time effectively, maximizing cost effectiveness in the use of resources.
  • Customer service oriented to our external as well as internal customers and maintain a high degree of professionalism.
  • Willing to gain an understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance benefits as they relate to hospice care.
  • Must have strong verbal/written communication skills and able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of community resources available to patients who are not hospice appropriate and able to make suggestions and referrals to those organizations where appropriate.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to hospice care.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Education/Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, and/or a minimum of 3-5 years outside sales/marketing experience.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile with current insurance.

Experience:

  • Two years working in healthcare sales or marketing, hospice setting preferred.
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining positive relationships in the community.
  • Prior marketing experience with proven sales track record.
