“Promotores de Salud” translates to “Promoters of Health”. Promotores are trusted members of and/or have close understanding of the community served. This Peer-to-Peer program uses Spanish-speaking community members to reach out to Spanish-speaking patients to promote mental health and overall wellness, and to reduce barriers to accessing services, and to provide a comfortable cultural context for sharing important information about community resources and concerns regarding their health status.
Responsibilities:
- Helping patients develop their capacity and access to resources, including health insurance, food, housing, quality care and health information.
- Serve as critical members of the healthcare delivery team and facilitate physical and behavioral health services along with community services and resource support.
- Home visitations per patient needs
- Translating and interpreting for clients and health care/social service providers
- Work collaboratively and effectively within a team
- Help patients develop health management plans and goals
- Participate in Outreach Events
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Able to read and write in both English and Spanish
- Public speaking ability, with strong written and verbal Spanish and English skills
- Able to connect with community members/ Patients in a compassionate, caring, and culturally sensitive manner.
- Must have a reliable automobile for use on the job (mileage to be reimbursed)
- Must be comfortable with traveling to our clinic service areas. This includes but not limited to: La Habra, Buena Park, Anaheim, Brea, Whittier, etc.)
- Must complete a Pre-physical.
- Some Computer knowledge
- Demonstrate minimum qualifications via 1) a certificate of completion of CHW/P/R certificate program or complete while under employment at Friends of Family Health Center
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed per program requirements.
- Are deeply connected with the Latinx community and other communities.
Scheduline: Mon - Fri 8-5PM, and some weekends (paid) as needed

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 48 per week
