Established in 2020, The Peace Studio (TPS) is a national non-profit (501c3) organization that develops artists and journalists who seek to inspire hope and catalyze transformative social change. At the heart of our work is the belief that artists and journalists are the ones best positioned to respond to a violent world. Their stories and work will either shape our culture towards greater justice and peace, or away from it. Since its founding, TPS has served more than 350 artists and journalists to this end, providing them with funding, tools, mentorship, and platforms to create the change they wish to see in their own communities. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Peace Studio is proud to extend a professional development opportunity for candidates interested in Arts Administration and Program / Events Production. The Community Engagement intern will work closely with our Community Engagement Coordinator in Miami, providing both logistical and communications support over the course of three months.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM YOU WILL BE SUPPORTING
The Artist as Catalyst (AAC) Program, now in its third year in Miami, is an immersive, four-day experience for emerging artists living and working in the Greater Miami area that are interested in making a positive social impact with their art. 40 young Catalysts, between the ages of 18-26, are selected each year to partake in studio classes, keynote conversations, and interactive workshops on the themes of Artistry, Citizenship, and Entrepreneurship. Past presenters include Teo Castellanos, Arsimmer McCoy, Edwidge Danticat, Rosie Herrera, DJ Le Spam, Pioneer Winter, and Nicole Henry, among others. The program benefits those young artists who are looking to build community around the questions: How do I make great art, make a living, and make a difference?
The program is held each year at Green Space Miami (7200 Biscayne Blvd). Thanks to leading support from The Green Family Foundation, all four days of programming are completely covered at no charge to the participants.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Secondary point of contact for program vendors
- Assist in generating social media content leading up to and during the program
- Assist with communications throughout the program
- Assist in the design of program materials
- Provide on site support for program facilitators including tech support, room set up/breakdown
- Provide additional programmatic support as needed
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must reside in Miami-Dade County
- Strong interest in Arts & Cultural Programming
- Proficiency in Gsuite, particularly Google docs and Google Sheets
- Comfortable with social media platforms particularly Instagram
- Graphic Design/ Experience with Canva highly preferred
- Must be 18 years of age or older to apply
- Must be able to lift 20lbs
Compensation and Time Commitment
- This is an independent contractor professional development opportunity with a total stipend of $2,000. Your hours each week will vary but will never exceed 10 hours in any given week, with the exception of the program dates themselves.
- You will need to be available full-time, in-person for the duration of the Artist as Catalyst program itself, which is June 13-16, 2024 at Green Space in North Miami
