PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES as a Community and ʻOhana Resource Educator

  • Identify potential participants for the Parents as Teachers (PAT) and Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) home visiting programs (MIECHV) in the Community and provide case management and referral services to all screened families.
  • Represent Keiki O Ka ʻĀina programs in the community, with a focus on the MIECHV funded home visiting programs.
  • Create and facilitate warm transitions to He Lei Piko Home Visiting Programs and to community partners.
  • Possess the ability to understand and perform within the organizational structure of Culture Based Education (CBE) and family engagement through knowledge of and implementation of Hawaiian culture and dual language opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Screen and recruit MIECHV eligible families at locations identified by CORE Coordinator into the PAT and HIPPY home visiting programs (this includes birthing hospitals)
  • Provide education to the community about KOKA home visiting services when screening families and at community events.
  • Conduct oneself as a representative of Keiki O Ka ʻĀina within the community.
  • Provide case management to screened families, including referrals to approved agencies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to leverage support for the programs our programs and organization such as: Schools, Government agencies, Non-profit service sectors, Obstetricians, Pediatricians and other community partners
  • Participate in community meetings to increase the visibility of programs in service areas.
  • Maintain clear lines of communication with outside referral agencies.
  • Prepare, organize, and refill resources flyers as needed for recruitment events & hospital screens.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of respect and implementation of Hawaiian values and culture during work.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Programs including but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook, Sharepoint, and OneDrive.
  • Ability to produce written documentation of screens completed and case management services in a clear, concise, and accurate manner and demonstrated reporting and data tracking capabilities.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and compassion to the needs of parents and children.
  • Demonstrated capacity to implement screening and assessment tools, family planning and required evaluation documents.
  • Willing to work on some Saturdays, Sundays or evenings.
  • Maintain a clean driving abstract.
  • Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
