Job Summary

As the Community Action Grant Manager, you will plan, develop, organize and manage policy and program development for Community Action, asset building, financial education, and self-sufficiency initiatives in the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO). This position organizes and manages activities that expand entrepreneurial initiatives and provides technical assistance to increase economic self-sufficiency and build the capacity of nonprofits engaged in antipoverty efforts. This position directs, organizes and manages information sharing, training and technical assistance to build the capacity of nonprofit agencies that provide services to low-income individuals and families.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
  • Manage and monitor federal, state and private funds to expand entrepreneurial self-sufficiency initiatives and to build the capacity of nonprofits engaged in these initiatives.
  • Direct, plan, organize and manage policy and program development for Community Action, asset development, financial education and economic opportunity activities.
  • Initiate, build and sustain strategic partnerships essential to carry out the mission of the office and advancing innovative policy and program initiatives to increase economic self-sufficiency.
  • Direct, organize and manage information-sharing, training and technical assistance to build the capacity of nonprofit agencies.
  • Research and establish policies, practices, and programs related to advancing the economic self-sufficiency of low-income people.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
**To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.**
Three (3) years professional experience in a Human Services/social services setting working with programs serving low-income populations. Experience must demonstrate:
  • Working with nonprofit organizations and grant or program management experience.
  • Experience managing state and/or federal funding streams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of the Community Action Network, including state and federal policies, programs and funding streams serving low-income populations, such as the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), Head Start, Energy Assistance, and Weatherization.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to independently organize workload, set goals, prioritize multiple tasks, and manage projects.
  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
