The Opportunity
As the Communications Writer at Emerson Collective (EC), you will play a key role in crafting and delivering compelling internal and external communications materials and collateral, ensuring consistency and a unified voice and tone. This role requires a strong writing skill set, an understanding of effective internal communications strategies, and the ability to collaborate with various teams to convey key messages to our diverse and dynamic workforce. Additionally, this person must be able to communicate how our work impacts and affects news of the day and relevant issues. This candidate will collaborate with internal teams, contributing to the creation of newsletters, messaging, and other collateral that reflects the mission and values of Emerson Collective as well as assist external partners in similar endeavors. This role reports to the MD, Communications & Campaigns.
Role and Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and deliver the internal Dish newsletter, ensuring timely and engaging content regarding current events, EC issues, internal voices and leaders, and external partners.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and insights for newsletter content and ensure newsletters are distributed with a cohesive voice and cadence.
- Draft, edit, and finalize clear and concise email communications, talking points, remarks, and other messaging for internal audiences, conveying important updates, announcements, organizational news, and how it intersects with news of the day.
- Co-create compelling messaging for various initiatives, projects, and campaigns and develop collateral and materials to support the communication needs of different teams within EC.
- Develop channel measurement and analytics to inform and improve audience understanding and drive efforts to increase traffic and engagement with internal communications.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements
- 5-7 years’ experience as a writer/editor, preferably in a communications or content creation role at a mission-driven organization, campaign, government, or communications agency.
- Proven experience in internal communications, with a focus on newsletter and email content creation.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from executives and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Comfort working in an ambiguous environment with many different stakeholders and partners.
- Alignment with EC’s mission and passion for social impact.
