Requirements
- Open to permanent residents of Rhode Island or current students enrolled in a college or university located in Rhode Island.
- Must be able to attend all 17 Rhode Island FC home matches at Beirne Stadium on the campus of Bryant University and work remotely during all 17 Rhode Island FC away matches (see schedule here), plus any additional U.S. Open Cup Matches between March 8 – Oct. 26.
- Published writing experience required.
- Basic understanding of the rules and competition format of professional soccer.
Qualifications
- Previous sports experience in media relations or sports information a plus.
- Highly motivated and well organized.
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet deadlines.
- Adobe InDesign experience a plus.
- Ability to process and work through confidential information on a daily basis.
- WordPress experience a plus.
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
Position Description
- Position is paid, part-time, hybrid and will last through the 34-week USL Championship season (March 4 – Oct. 26).
- Workload and hours will fluctuate based on number of matches each week.
- Write matchday content including match recaps.
- Assist with the creation of written weekly content materials including media advisories, Game Notes, match previews and press releases.
- Maintain team statistics and records.
- Production and distribution of media credentials, team rosters and lineup sheets.
- Create and publish written content to Rhode Island FC website.
- Assist with press box set-up and operations on matchdays.
- Contributes to other written materials and feature content.
- Work closely with Rhode Island FC Director of Communications on media planning and strategy.
