PRIMARY FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILTY
The Communications & Marketing Manager will be responsible for assisting in the development and planning of strategic communications and marketing. The Manager will plan and craft content for social media platforms, produce marketing collateral, assist with website management, as well as support a variety of other communications functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write a range of content to support communications and marketing efforts, including newsletters, website copy, press releases and brochures
- Assist communications team in developing and implementing a communications strategy designed to further company objectives
- Assist in daily communication with various teams to support Communications and Marketing Department
- Develop and implement plans for all social media platforms
- Design and edit graphics for marketing collateral, print or web as needed
- Serve as website manager in ensuring all information is up to date
- Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of communications campaigns and strategies to include all social media platforms
- Track media coverage
- Stay up to date on industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices
- Assist with media inquiries and help in coordinating interviews
- Attend and assist with promotional events, signature fundraisers and regional events to help keep the organization top of mind
- Responsible for ordering marketing products through vendors and ensuring brand integrity
- Perform outreach to media and build strategic partnerships to grow brand and awareness
- Develop PowerPoint presentations and assist in proofing/branding PowerPoints
- Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 2+ years' experience in a communications or marketing role
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field
- Local to the Bexar County area
- Ability to travel to multiple locations, events, etc. several times within a work week
- Bilingual ability is an asset
- Superior time management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- An analytical mind and ability to think critically
- Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work from home and on location 2 days a week and more as needed
- Familiar with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and capable of creating visually compelling presentations
- Familiar with Canva and capable of creating graphic design/flyers for marketing materials
- Proven knowledge of communications and marketing ethics and best practices
- Proficient public speaking abilities are an asset
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION
- Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, and walk briskly
- Stamina to work long days and drive long distances
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 30 pounds
- Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Must have the ability to give and receive verbal and written instructions (with hearing aids if needed)
- Must have the ability to read fine print, have sustained vision, and peripheral vision (with contacts lenses or glasses if needed)
- Environment requires dexterity to remain calm and adapt to fast paced and emotional environments
- Home-like settings with varying moderate to high degrees of background noise
- Light and ventilation found in a typical home setting
- Campuses are smoke-free, except on permitted campuses in designated areas
- Possible injury when lifting or moving if employee fails to use proper body mechanics, or if proper techniques are not used
