Communications Intern
The Texas Freedom Network (TFN) seeks a part-time Communications Intern. This is a remote position, but preferably based in Austin, TX. TFN is a statewide non-partisan, grassroots organization that is building an informed and effective movement working toward equality and social justice.
The Communications Intern will observe, learn and support TFN’s Communications Department. This position will report to the Senior Communications Director. This internship will run from June to August 2024.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in research projects related to TFN’s key issue areas
- Processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Public Information Act (PIA) requests
- Perform research and analysis
- Participate in team brainstorming sessions to develop and distribute content
- Assist in writing and curating content
- Assist in collecting quantitative and qualitative data from campaigns
- Assist team members with tasks and activities as requested
Collaborating with other TFN departments and programs on related work
Qualifications and Skills
- Applicants must be:
- Well-organized, resourceful, and persistent
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate a commitment to the progressive values, mission, and goals of the organization
- Highly motivated self-starters who are able to work independently and in a team environment
- Able to coordinate with others well and be an effective communicator
- Ideally have experience working in a non-profit organization or on a research project
Pay: $21/hour
