Position Summary Position open until filled / First Review of materials will begin: January 8, 2024 Salary range for this position is: $55,251.00/yr - $74,340.00/yr Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

This position leverages strategic communications and storytelling to engage a wide-ranging audience that will enhance Seattle Central's image and reputation, advance student recruitment, foster authentic ties with alumni, and address community relations and public relations needs. More than just a promotional arm of Seattle Central, the Marketing and Communications office develops and nurtures deep connections within our community, contributing to the college's role as a cornerstone of the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Under the supervision of the Director of Communications, the Communications Consultant 3 will play a key role in crafting narratives about the college, its faculty, staff, students, and alumni. This position will be responsible for producing engaging and persuasive content for a range of communication platforms including websites, newsletters, publications, and social media. This position balances strong writing skills and social media with a technical aptitude and a customer service mindset.

This position will occasionally support other marketing and communications duties as assigned including special events and community relations. This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE and is subject to union shop provisions. What you'll be working on: Content Creation & Story Telling (60%) Primary writer and storyteller for college's digital content, social media, and family of printed materials Connect storytelling to trending news, themes, events and write relevant, timely, fun and interesting stories that resonate Identify story opportunities and develop concepts/angles Produce story packages for use on multiple communications channels/platforms, tailoring writing styles to meet the needs of target audiences Social Media Management (30%) Generate, edit, publish, and share daily social media content to increase brand awareness and engagement in partnership with marketing and communications team Make recommendations for adopting emerging platforms, tools, and social media capabilities Monitor performance across social media channels, tracking impact and engagement, synthesizing new insights, and proactively adjusting tactics and strategies as needed Plan strategic, creative approaches and produce fresh, regular content to reach new and existing audiences Maintain an editorial calendar aligned with all communications and marketing strategies Support development and implementation of paid digital campaigns Web Management (10%) Execute content updates using Drupal content management system (CMS) Develop web content and revise web content provided by others for brand alignment, clear and concise messaging, and web usability Analyze content, performance, user behavior and traffic patterns provided by web analytics tools Regularly review website for content accuracy and opportunities for new content and/or features Other duties as assigned.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience) Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in creative writing, marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field. 3-5 years of experience developing original, creative storytelling content; candidates with at least three years of training through education will also be considered Versatile writing skills, able to take on a range of writing styles, including creative feature stories, news, social media posts, and internal organizational communications Writing, editing, proofreading using AP style guide Progressive experience managing social media platforms such as Meta, X/Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness Experience communicating effectively in a culturally competent manner to a variety of audiences, especially with diverse people and groups Preferred Education & Experience: Professional level photography and videography (including editing) is strongly preferred, but not required Experience with Adobe Creative Suite Experience with Drupal Content Management System (CMS) and HTML Experience in higher education Physical Requirements: The position: Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties.

The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Is regularly required to provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation. Performs a range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
