Description
OMNI Community Credit Union's Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the Commercial Lending and Member Business Services Program. Work effectively as liaison with OMNI's Credit Union Service Organization and strategic partner, Commercial Alliance for Commercial Lending. Meet and/or exceed established Commercial Loan goals.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing and maintaining existing portfolio of $8MM - $20MM while soliciting new opportunities in target market.
  • Negotiating, structuring, and underwriting of new Commercial Loan opportunities.
  • Servicing of existing portfolio.
  • Presenting Commercial Loan opportunities to Senior Management and Underwriting.
  • Maintain and grow referral sources in target market.
  • Ability to analyze financial statement making sound recommendations for Commercial Loans.
  • Effectively make and respond to cold calls, leads, and referrals while exceeding service standards.
  • Travel to all branch locations and offsite business locations as required.
  • Interview applicants and pre-qualify commercial applications for Commercial Loans.
  • Work with OMNI team members and Commercial Alliance, being the main conduit between the two organizations. Responsible for being aware of all issues and concerns as it relates to his/her assigned portfolio and keeping both OMNI Senior Management and Commercial Alliance informed of issues, both current and potential.
  • Coordinate cross-selling activities in the commercial portfolio, including business and consumer depository products and services and consumer loan products.
  • Understand and implement organizational goals and expectations regarding volume, credit standards and cross sell activities.
  • Develop and maintain regular schedule for reporting commercial lending and cross-selling activity and performance to Senior Management.
  • Maintain public relations and close contact with prospects, community organizations and gatekeepers (attorneys, accountants, etc.), generating commercial leads on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure that all commercial files kept at OMNI are complete and well organized in relation to standards set.
  • Improve ability of other employees who are sourcing Commercial Loans to pre-qualify prospects through continual training, mentoring and empowerment.
  • Perform such other duties and accountabilities as might be assigned to this position
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of he job as well as reporting to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Assist members and team members with problems or questions regarding business services.
  • Organize work and give prompt attention to team member and member requests while meeting deadlines for assigned tasks.
  • Advanced knowledge of and ensure compliance with Credit Union policies and procedures related to Commercial Loans.
  • Completes annual training of all required compliance regulations, including the BSA, and adheres to the regulations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor, informing him/her of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new development, changes and other important information within area of responsibility.
  • Answer all telephone calls in a courteous and timely manner, and transfer calls to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with all people, including fellow team members, members, management staff, board members and outside vendors.
  • Participate in Credit Union Marketing programs and campaigns.
  • Keep open communications and build trust with team members and members.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary reporting.
  • Follow safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Protect and respect credit union equipment and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None with the exception of the normal responsibilities as a Leader of the Credit Union.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree preferred. Three (3) to six (6) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, regulatory agencies, benefit providers, and others.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Continuous use of judgment, reasoning, patience and negotiation. Frequent use of initiative, ingenuity and creativity. Frequent problem-solving. In certain circumstances, problem resolution may require considerable diplomacy while dealing with difficult
people.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Personal computer applications knowledge and skills to include Microsoft Office. Ability to create an atmosphere that promotes teamwork, collaboration and initiative. Must be good with detail and numbers and have good organizational and
interpersonal skills. Knowledge of loan servicing functions including document processing, title and insurance products.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
All essential functions are performed in an office setting. Temperatures in the climate-
controlled offices may fluctuate. Work area is sometimes noisy due to multiple member
transactions. The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate.
Due to the nature of our business, there is a risk of exposure to potentially hazardous
conditions.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
The mental characteristics necessary to competently perform this job include the frequent need to write or type, and the continuous need to be resourceful, persuasive and creative in all aspects of the loan documentation. In addition, the job holder requires imagination, concentration and negotiating skills to be successful in performing the job duties as well as a high aptitude for technology.
