JOB DESCRIPTION
Commercial Banking is focused on helping our clients succeed and making a positive difference in our communities. We provide credit and financing, treasury and payment services, international banking and real estate services to our clients, which include corporations, municipalities, real estate investors and owners, and nonprofit organizations.
The Strategy team manages mission-critical projects ranging from developing growth strategies, to assessing and planning entry into new markets, to implementing organizational restructurings and operational efficiencies, and more. Projects are typically team-based and include close collaboration with the Commercial Banking Operating Committee and senior executives.
Our team comes from top strategy consulting firms, investment banks, and leading undergraduate and graduate programs. The Head of Strategy is responsible for defining the overall strategic direction of the business, reports directly to the Commercial Banking CEO, and is a member of the Commercial Banking Operating Committee.
Job responsibilities:
- Apply structured problem-solving and design thinking to address top strategic priorities
- Develop innovative solutions to transform the business model and product offering
- Support multiple project work streams
- Mentor and help direct work of junior team members
- Sample projects include:
- Assess growth opportunities – geographic, industry or product
- Inform product or solutions strategic roadmap by identifying unmet or emerging client needs
- Refine client segmentation and / or client coverage models
- Understand emerging trends or new entrants to evaluate impact and potential action
- Assess operating models for optimization opportunities, including redesign or automation
- Support creation of CEO-level executive communications for events like JPMC Investor Day or JPMC Operating Committee (OC) Strategy Offsite
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 4 years of experience with a premier strategy consulting firm or an internal strategy consulting / corporate strategy team
- Demonstrated experience with consulting toolkit / broad range of analytical tools and problem-solving approaches
- Strong client management and executive-level communication skills
- Track record of demonstrating a high level of personal initiative, setting and achieving challenging goals, and demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Experience in financial services industry
- MBA or an advanced business degree from a top-tier program
