College Team Data Analyst
Role Mission:
As a member of the National College Team, the National Data Analyst is responsible for improving operational processes and supporting critical strategies related to the department. This role is primarily responsible for analyzing department-wide business practices, improving operational processes, building data models to organize data for teams, and for monitoring and handling data.
This leader will work on a fast paced, rapidly expanding entrepreneurial environment, creating cohesion and consistency amongst high schools in pursuit of college enrollment goals. The Data Analyst is to create strong reporting mechanisms, seek out information from multiple departments, synthesize easy to understand accountability summaries and create strong relationships with partners within and outside of the organization with respect to accountability. This individual must also be able to extract actionable information from internal and external data and be able to simplify that information for various levels of stakeholders.
Location:
The Data Analyst must currently live in or be willing to relocate to Texas, with preference for one of our regions: Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin, Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, or Tarrant County.
Travel Expectations:
Up to 20% of the time during the busiest parts of the year to support team initiatives
Goals:
You will be responsible for leading and managing the following ambitious goals:
- 92.5% of stakeholders are “Very Satisfied” or “Satisfied” with all dashboards.
- 99% of the Class of 2024 is accurately coded in NSLU according to postsecondary status.
- The “To & Through” podcast averages a 4.5-star rating for each season.
- The “To & Through” podcast averages 1,000 streams per episode.
- No more than 30% of the Class of 2024 will have a Tier 4 ACT score.
- 60% of Tier 1 merit students in the Class of 2024 matriculate to a Tier 1 college.
In this role you will:
- Responsible for analyzing department-wide business practices, improving operational processes, building data models to organize data for teams across the business and for monitoring and handling data
- Create, maintain, and adapt tools and platforms that optimize processes for stakeholders to visualize
- Identify ongoing opportunities for high impact improvement of processes and systems by analyzing data and developing hypotheses
- Report progress to national, regional and campus leadership and advise pivots necessary to deliver results
- Synthesize one pagers that summarize each states accountability system changes for stakeholders
- Analyze data dashboards, share resources, and communicate progress so that schools meet expectations and achieve goals
- Partner closely with the College Team to provide efficient strategies for our team and other leaders to collect and access needed retention data
- Partner with team leaders to understand the metrics related to retention that are most meaningful to them
- Maintain and improve reports and analyses based on feedback and trends, compiling relevant data and insights on a weekly and/or monthly basis (depending on the metric/audience)
- Provide training and support to the team to ensure that data is being leveraged appropriately
- Leverage regional college enrollment trends to inform systems, policies, and procedures for IDEA’s college enrollment strategy
What You Bring – Competencies
Knowledge and Skills:
- Efficient computer skills with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Advanced to expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or other data tools to analyze data and provide appropriate visualizations and insights.
- SQL experience preferred.
- Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner
- Ability to read, analyze and apply mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
- Ability to research, analyze, report and make sound judgments and work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation.
- Strong work ethic with personal drive for success exemplifying “whatever it takes” attitude in a high-growth organization
- Attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills, both written and oral, and maintain confidentiality in all matters.
Required experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable
- Experience: 2+ years of professional experience
- License or Certification
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
What We Offer:
Compensation & Benefits:
Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $55,000 and $65,500, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
